What does Chiropractors Registration mean for the General Public?

Chiropractors Registration is meant to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public as the Chiropractors Council of Hong Kong, the statutory body established by the Chiropractors Registration Ordinance Cap 428 for the purpose of regulating the Chiropractic profession, will

  • Assure the public that only those qualified to practice Chiropractic are allowed to practice
  • Assure the public that there is standard of education and training that must be met by those intending to practice Chiropractic
  • Assure the public that those who are practicing Chiropractic continue to abide by the laws and regulations covering the practice of Chiropractic
  • Provide for the hearing of complaints from the public about registered Chiropractors and assure the public that complaints are investigated and duly sanctioned when disciplinary offences are committed.

Chiropractors Registration will provide the general public with a wider choice in healthcare. Chiropractic has been proven by many major studies abroad to be an effective and cost-effective option in the management of various neuromusculoskeletal disorders. Chiropractic Registration will ensure that Chiropractic services can be properly integrated into our healthcare system and be made more readily available to the public.

Chiropractors Registration will pave the way to the multidisciplinary approach in the healthcare system of Hong Kong. The industry paradigm currently being adopted in many developed countries is based on the multidisciplinary approach to health because this approach provides the public with the optimal benefit from all evidence-based health practices.

Chiropractors Registration will make Hong Kong SAR the first place in Asia to legalize the practice of Chiropractic. This is a significant milestone in the history of Chiropractic worldwide. Several Chiropractic associations in Asia including Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan have sought our advice based on our experience in securing Chiropractic legislation.

What does Chiropractors Registration mean for the Profession?

Weed out those who do not have the proper qualification and claim to Chiropractic practice.
  • Practicing Chiropractic without registration will be punishable by law.
